As a Certified Personal Trainer, I'm an avid reader of health information. Not just exercise but also diet. This book is so much more than just about magnesium, it really gets you thinking about diet, health, and the way we grow, cook and prepare our food.
I'm amazed to learn that because of the way we grow our food we still won't get enough magnesium even if we eat whole foods. The DASH Diet specifically states that we need magnesium, yet there is very little research done of this critical mineral. Much less education.
Dr. Dean breaks down the different diseases - a lot! - that can result due to lack of magnesium. Discusses the interactions with other minerals (there is so much to know) and then even recommends breakfasts, lunches and dinners that will be rich in magnesium.
I do feel like I need to read this through again to really absorb it (although I really like the real life examples) and then incorporate it into my life. I'm also going to speak with my doctor as well regarding supplementation.
